                                          Feeding Children

For several years the Covenant's nutrition program provided daily nutritious meals to students and families in various neighborhoods throughout Managua.   Feeding children is a critical need in Managua.  With donations from churches and individuals we are able to continue this critical effort.

The San Francisco Libre region was hard hit by drought conditions in 2014 and the famers' crop failed. Without a crop to harvest the farmers did not have the cash to purchase seed to plant for the next crop. A few small New England UMC churches connected with the Covenant raised $3,500 for seed. Five hundred pounds of seed, plus fertilizer was delivered in October 2014 and a second larger delivery will be made in the spring of 2015. The fall crop was a success and farmers are very grateful for the aid in helping to maintain self sustainability.
